we just had a minor 2.8 quake a mile or two from our place.

"A microearthquake occurred at 6:49:15 AM (PST) on Thursday, December 18, 2003.
The magnitude 2.8 event occurred 3 km (2 miles) WSW of Cupertino, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 5 km ( 3 miles)."
