NY, NY - a year after
Nov. 21st, 2003 04:17 pmNY cabbies seem to talk to passengers a lot less nowadays. It's so much better to kill time in the car talking to somebody you care about on the cell phone, than exchange stale news through the glass barrier.
Friends took me to a nice french-style restaurant in the West Village ( one block from Waverly and 11th). We were completely wet by the time we got there, but it was worth it.
The two signs of a good place in an unfamiliar territory were there: 1) crowded on a weeknight 2)don't accept credit cards. This rule is yet to fail me in many countries.
Another reliable way to find a nice restaurant is to ask a good looking (elegant) local woman in her mid/late thirties. Those rarely make mistakes. :)
