It was a long commute: two days of travel from San Francisco to Tokyo then Seoul for a two-day meeting. Measured in insights and impressions, rather than in units of time, the trip was worth 6 points:
1. Meditation-like book by Harold S. Kushner on Psalm 23.
2. Realization that I understand issues very differently than my colleagues, but there's no way to coherently communicate the difference, mostly because we don't share mental models.
3. Thick, somewhat ugly crowds of young Koreans during the Cherry Blossoms festival in Seoul. I wished they were not there.
4. Seeing a modern art exhibit in Leum Museum and then, later that evening, in "Live Jazz" Bronx bar near Dongukk University, realizing that we live inside such an art exhibit.
5. In a Japanese restaurant, the uplifting feeling of a "cared for" barbarian, when a waitress most kindly showed me how to properly mix ingredients for an unknown oriental dish. Maybe more about it tomorrow...
6. Meditation on phrase "Enjoy your breakfast."
