1. Good news from the Midwest. I think they will be ready for the project early next year, January-February. The biggest problem would be to fit the first seminar (2-3 days + travel) into my schedule.
2. I'm sitting by the fireplace and can hear the sound of rain hitting the chimney cap. It (the sound) mixes with the crackling of the burning wood and ... deserves a haiku :)
3. 5 days full of meetings and no Internet connection is a killer. On top of that early morning telecons, overflowing mailboxes, persistent hunger (for some reason I get really hungry during intense meetings), completely screwed up schedule. Arghh!
4. Read more about the history of computing technology and found an interesting note on how Babbage tried to solve the question of the existence of God:
(He writes): I resolved that at a certain hour of a certain day I would go to a certain room in the house, and if I found the door open, I would believe in the Bible; but that if it were closed, I chould conclude it was not true. I remember well the observation was made, but I have no recollection as to the state of the door. [HoCT. 155]
5. Immigration, when done with the right mental attitude can provide one with the best of all worlds: re-incarnation as an adult in a country of choice.
6. need to go to Portland this Monday.
