WASHINGTON - President Bush on Monday signed legislation to pay for the war operations in Iraq and Afghanistan for the rest of his presidency and beyond, hailing the $162 billion plan as a rare product of bipartisan cooperation.
"This bill shows the American people that even in an election year, Republicans and Democrats can come together to stand behind our troops and their families," Bush said in an Oval Office ceremony.
Больше всего мне не нравится в Америке эта страсть к оружию. Что демократы, что республиканцы - один черт. Спрашивается, зачем всаживать такие огромные деньги в военных? Зачем нужно тратить на "оборону" больше чем остальной мир вместе взятый? Ужасно похоже на процесс ожирения: человек ест не потому, что голоден, а потому, что есть возможность нажраться. А когда так много оружия, всегда можно придумать, в какую драку ввязаться. Не один Буш найдется, так другой. Ведь давно же известно, что от сознания собственной силы люди тупеют, перестают осознавать пределы возможного. А тут целые общественные институты созданы чтобы поддерживать страну в состоянии глобальной тупости.
