- property as a means of sustenance ( see the declaration of rights of man and citizen);
- creation, exchange, and accumulation of property(-ies).
On one hand, Law must protect property rights because it ( useful function of property in society, e.g. competition and efficient use of capital);
on the other hand, Law should not protect property rights because this leads to re-enforcement of uneven rights distribution within the society ( i.e. people's rights are equal as long as they have roughly equal amounts of property).
